Will of Charles GANDER

Summary of Will:

This is the last Will and Testament of me Charles GANDER now of the Admiral Napier Public House Amersham Vale New Cross in the County of Kent Licensed Victualler made this twenty third day of May one thousand eight hundred and seventy eight.

First. I revoke all previous testamentary documents.

Secondly. I devise and bequeath all my real and personal property not otherwise disposed of to Henry William TURNER of the Westbourne Park Tavn. Westbourne Park Villas Paddington and John Beach FLEURET junior of 23 Southampton Row Holborn upon trust for the purpose of carrying out the following (?trusts) to be performed by them or the survivor of them.

Third. Upon trust to realize the whole of my real and personal property and after paying out my debts funeral and testamentary expenses and legacies to invest the balance of the proceeds of such sale in public stocks or upon mortgage upon real or personal securities.

Fourth. The interest derivable from such investment or investments to be paid quarterly to my wife during her life (so long as she shall remain unmarried) but in the event of her marriage or death I direct my trustees to apply the proceeds of the before mentioned investments towards the education and maintenance of my children until they shall become of age each child upon attaining the age of twenty one years to receive within twelve months an equal share of the principal thus invested for his or her sole use.

Fifth. Every present and future trustee including the said John Beach FLEURET Jr. being professionally engaged in carrying out my trust shall be entitled to the same professional costs charges and expenses as if he were not trustee.

Sixth. I bequeath to my sister Frances Amelia GANDER the sum of twenty six pounds sterling free of legacy duty.

Seventh. I appoint the said Hy. William TURNER and John Beach FLEURET Junior Executors of this my will and I bequeath to Henry William TURNER the sum of twenty pounds sterling free of legacy duty to purchase a mourning ring. And lastly I declare this to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have to this my last will and testament written on one sheet of paper set my hand the day and year first above written. Chas GANDER.

Signed by the said Charles GANDER the testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us being present at the same time who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other subscribe our names as witnesses:

Alexr. BROWN Jr. Amersham Vale, New Cross.

Proved at London 14 August 1879 by the Oaths of Henry William TURNER and John Beach FLEURET the younger* the Executors to whom Admon was granted.

Personal Estate: under £3,000.

*Admons showed that occupation of John Beach FLEURET was given as an Auctioneer.
